The Legend of corn

They say that before the arrival of Quetzalcoatl, the Aztecs ate only roots and animals they hunted.

They had no corn, for this grain as food for them, was hidden behind the mountains.

The old gods tried to separate the mountains with his colossal strength but did not.

The Aztecs went to put to this problem Quetzalcoatl.

'I will bring them, they answered the god.

Quetzalcoatl, the mighty God, not in vain endeavored to separate the mountains with his strength, but used his cunning.

It became a black ant and accompanied by a red ant went to the mountains.

The road was full of difficulties but overcame them Quetzalcoatl, thinking only of his people and their food needs. He made great efforts and not give up to fatigue and hardship.

Quetzalcoatl came to where the corn, as it was transformed into an ant, took a ripe grain in its jaws and started back. Arriving delivered the promised grain of corn to the starving Indians.

The Aztecs planted the seed. Obtained and the corn planted and harvested since.

The precious grain, increased its wealth, and became stronger, built cities, palaces, temples ... And they lived happily ever since.

And from that time, the Aztecs worshiped the generous Quetzalcoatl, the god friend of man, the god who brought them corn.
